Sunflower Dreams Update Is Coming!

I know, I’ve been slacking again with the updating. I have no real good excuse, but I am still (for some unfathomable reason) playing around with the ways I want to share chapters. After hmm-ing and hah-ing for ages over switching to the good ol’ fashioned in-blog method (because I was unsure of where to store my pictures for free, and believe me, I have A LOT of pictures) I had a flash of brilliance that solved that little problem for me permanently.

So, long-winded way to say I’m alive, I have chapters shot and outlined for Sunflower Dreams, and I’m planning to update them soon!

Oh, and that second legacy I mentioned? Well, I decided not to blog it because, really, do I need another excuse to not update in a timely manner? I think not. Though, it’s a shame. I’ve been playing it and I just LOOVE it. Maybe I’ll do smaller updates here and there…

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled to here and Boolprop – the next chapter in Sunflower Dreams will be posted before July is out!

New/Second Legacy

So, I’m starting a new “project.” Really, it’s not. It’s just another Legacy so I can take a periodic break from Sunflower Dreams when I start to feel a bit of the writer’s block. In actuality, I’m hoping to style it more after how I wrote my Sims 2 attempts at legacies: meaning more observational, less plot. I’m not sure how it’ll turn out, but it’ll hopefully be a fun little project, and it’ll help give me something to do when I want to play, but haven’t figured out how to take the next step in The Dreams’ story =D

Oh, and did I mention that it’s going to be a 26-generation part-alphabetacy/part-rainbowacy?

Yeah, fun little project. Right…

Chapter 2.2: Little Deuce Coupe

Sunflower Dreams is back! And it didn’t even take two months for the next update this time! =D

When we last left off, we saw newly named Heiress Barbara-Anne struggle to find a mate to settle down and continue the legacy with. She finally found suspected Commitment-Phobe Nicklaus Marlow. His aversion to marriage was confirmed when he left her hanging at the alter. Non-plussed, Barbara-Anne told Nicklaus she was willing to take it slow, and the two moved in together before whisking off for adventure in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Rhonda had schemed with fellow Evil Sim VJ Alvi, and cooked up a plan that was set into motion by her starting to date man-maid Sebastian Grey.

Lastly, Wilson moved out, hoping to find love and happiness to make his life complete. And just in time, since it seemed that both Barbara-Anne and Rhonda were expecting the arrival of Generation 3. What happens next? The story continues below!

Chapter 2.1: Barbara-Anne

Hiatus Update

So, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, Sunflower Dreams hasn’t had an update in over two months. I was forced to take a bit of a hiatus due to real life issues – mainly dealing with an increase in work in the past month or so (which is good and bad).

The good news? I have not forgotten about the Dreams, and have the next chapter underway (yay!). The bad news? This past weekend was the first time I turned my game on since our last update (say WHAT?!). Fear not, though, the Dreams shall return within the next week! Especially since now that I’ve had time to turn the game back on, I want to get the next couple of chapters out NOW because I’m excited to share how the story has progressed =D

Chapter 1.3: Feel Flows

Woot! It’s another chapter of the Dreams!

After all the trouble that seemed to go on with using Google Docs in the last update, I’ve moved over to Slideshare to keep my presentation-ey chapters coming to you. I sincerely hopes this works out for the best.

Oh, and I hope you enjoy the update! This time around, we get to know each of the kids a lot better, an heir is chosen, and there’s lots of scheming going on (I bet you can guess by who).

Crashes and More Crashes

Has anyone else had the problem that their game crashes constantly? Twice now with the Dreams have I lost a good 2 hours worth of playing due to a random crash.

I’m hoping when I pick up some more RAM this issue will go away. It makes for EXTREMELY slow updates, since I need to play everything twice.

Not to mention, I end up with a bunch of pictures that I can no longer use. It’s so frustrating!

Chapter 1.2: It’s All Happening

“It’s finally-freakin’ happening” is probably a more accurate title. I know, I’ve taken forever and I day to get this update out – a precedent I do NOT hope to continue with the rest of these. I’ll be hacking a 2050 computer to work with The Sims 3 if that’s the case.

Enough griping from me, this is good news! Chapter 1.2 is (finally) up and ready for reading! When we last left off Parker and Sunflower were just leaving the hospital with twin daughters – one of whom, it was revealed, was born with the Evil trait. In this update, we get to know more about those girls, as well as some other family stuff. I’ll admit, it’s not the most plot-intensive piece, BUT I am writing with no set agenda and just letting the Dreams call the shots, so that is bound to happen from time to time as things set up for what’s to come.

Part 3 is already shot, so it definitely won’t be a month+ before you hear from the Dreams again. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy Part 2! =D

Picspam: Chapter 1.1

I’m still playing and plugging along, don’t think the quiet after the first chapter is me giving up! There will be no surrender for the Dreams! And don’t worry, I’ve been playing ahead, so that chapters can come out at least semi-regularly (fingers crossed).

I did want to update with some Picspam from the first chapter, though! I don’t know about y’all, but I LOVE me some Picspam between chapters to get a feel of some of the things that might have gone on that weren’t covered in the story, peek “behind the scenes” to see how things truly are (because, let’s face it, we need to embellish every now and then to make an interesting Legacy story), etc. My first Picspam is a little lean, but I wanted to get started on the right foot.

We’ll start with some flirting action going on between Parker and Sunflower at the gym. They really hit it off immediately upon “meeting” – though I had admittedly been stalking Parker since our first sighting of him as a teen. He’s not a typical founding spouse, because you have to wait for him to age up a bit, but he is adorable, and a great Sim to play with.

If we had chemistry in TS3, like we did in TS2+Nightlife, these two would be 3 bolts, easy.

"Sneaky, sneaky..."

I don’t know if this is a “benefit” of being Childish, but Sunflower does this autonomously ALL. THE. TIME. Either that, or she’s harboring some hidden “meanness” somewhere.

She lunges...

Poor Parker is clueless as to what is going to happen to him…

"I'm too young to have a coronary!"

While she loves to scare the bejeezus out of her beloved, she is always quick to turn on the charm after the deed is done. Parker can’t stay mad at her long:

Also of note during this first play session: Mortimor Goth is a fan of Peggy hair. Very lustrous, shiny, Pantene-hair-flipping-commercial-approved Peggy hair, that is:

It's flippy and fabulous, and you're just jealous. Respect.

Parker was keen on getting Sunflower back for all the sneak-and-scare’s she had been doing to him. Unfortunately, bringing your girlfriend to the beach and PEGGING her viciously with a baseball isn’t the most tactful way of getting someone back for being PUNK’D.

"Ready, honey? Catch THIS!" "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH. Great, now I have a bruise." "Won't even notice it with that wacky facepaint you always wear. ZING!"

"Oh yeah? Well, let's just see if you can catch THIS!" "Yeah, babe, that's a real tough one </sarcasm>."

I guess the sneakiness is just a hidden benefit of being Childish. Not a mean bone in her tiny little body.

And I just love when un-athletic Sims play catch. =D

Speaking of athletic….

"Num...num...num...."

“Num…num…num…” indeed.

While I covered most of the wedding party in the story, there is one aspect of it that I did not cover, simply because I didn’t understand what was going on. That is the Glitched Party Guests:

"Iiii want to rock and roll ALL NIIIIGHT, and party every day!!!!"

That’s Kaylynn Langerak (Parker’s sister), Jared Frio, and I believe Morgana Wolfe. It is also the next morning. They stood in the Dream’s shack all night, throwing confetti and “Oooh and Ahhh”-ing.

Kaylynn: I’m just so happy someone else will be cleaning up after my Slob big brother!”

Jared: Awww, I was too mean-spirited to think about settling down, but I’m really glad she found happiness.

Morgana: I wonder when there will be cake!

Sunflower: Y’all. It is 10AM and Parker has already left for work. Grab your cake and get your freeloading fannies OFF my property! By the way, Jared, we know you’re the one who didn’t leave a gift. I’m pregnant, I had to sleep through your cheering and confetti-tossing all night, and I need to stuff my face with pickles and ice cream. GET OUT!

Interestingly, Kaylynn ended up joining the Frio family some time after this. Perhaps because she and Jared are both closet wedding fan-kids.

"They've come to take me away!"

Lastly, I’lll leave you with this interesting shot that really is just a result of my bad timing of trying to get a picture of Sunflower and Parker heading to the hospital to give birth to the twins.

Parker: At last! They’ve come to take me away at last! Beam me up, Scotty!

Sunflower: Ug, you are such a Trekkie. First, there are no aliens in TS3, so there will be NO “beaming” of anything. Second, your PREGNANT wife is not impressed. Third, do we really have to go through this EVERY time you get your Big Old Lemon out to drive somewhere? Honestly.
